I’m a little late in posting this, but I’m still excited! As you may know, my documentary of Buddy Scotto, a community activist in Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens neighborhood, aired in the NYC market on CUNY TV in April of this year. It was shown as part of “219 West,” a CUNY Graduate School of Journalism television newsmagazine similar to “60 Minutes.”

If you don’t live in NYC or didn’t catch it when it aired, the episode is now available online! My portion runs 15:19-20:52. But you should watch the entire broadcast!

MY DOCUMENTARY AIRS TODAY!!!

In Film, Journalism, Television on April 11, 2012 at 9:43 am

If you’re in the New York area, my documentary will be part of the “219 West” broadcast on CUNY TV, channel 75.

It’s a little different than the version I’ve posted, so it’s definitely worth checking out.

It airs at 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. today, and will also air over the weekend.

The program will also be available online in the near future.

Many thanks to executive producers Kevin Loria and Mariya Pylayev, “219” professor Linda Prout, and Video Documentary professor Yoruba Richen for guiding me throughout making this documentary last semester.

Thanks also to my wonderful subject Mr. Buddy Scotto, who was gracious enough to allow me to film and interview him over many months. Thanks also go to his daughter Debra Scotto, long-time friend Mark Kolman, and Office of Emergency Management Commissioner Joe Bruno for allowing me to interview them.

Can you tell I’m excited?

Big news for my doc!!!

In Journalism, NYC, Television, Video on April 7, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Drumroll, please…my documentary will be on TV! It’s more than I ever thought would happen!

Here’s how it happened: My school runs a news magazine program, “219 West,” which features student-produced video packages.

A couple of students in this year’s class contacted me about my documentary I had produced last semester. They realized they’d be able to show the whole thing during the upcoming broadcast, so I went in to school Thursday morning to record some voice-overs and an intro.

It’ll be on CUNY TV, channel 75, on the following dates and airtimes:

Wednesday, Apr. 11 – 10 a.m., 3 p.m., 11 p.m.

Saturday, Apr. 14 – 8 p.m.

Sunday, Apr. 15 – 10 a.m.

Be sure to check it out!

The broadcast will also be available online at some point, and I’ll post a link when it’s up!

Many thanks to Kevin Loria, Mariya Pylayev and professor Linda Prout for everything!
