Movie Poster Monday: “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”

Okay, it was really another Snow White movie that did well at the box office this weekend. But it made me want to revisit the original.

Walt Disney’s 1937 movie was the first feature-length animated film. The pioneering technique had each frame drawn on a transparent sheet, known as a cel. It also opened the door to traditional hand-drawn animation (as opposed to the computer animation used to great effect by Disney’s sister company Pixar).

I chose this one because it sort of reminds me of a 1950s pulp poster or book cover. It’s almost ahead of its time, and even looks modern today.

Although the poster makes it look like the trees are the real menace.
